Calling all moms-to-be and those who plan to be. This post is for you! Eating seafood regularly during pregnancy is vital for a healthy baby and mom. In fact, research shows that the nutrients found in fatty fish, particularly omega-3s DHA and EPA, are especially beneficial for baby’s brain and eye development, as well as mom’s heart, skin and mood. The 2015-2020 U.S Dietary Guidelines recommend that pregnant women, breastfeeding moms and women who plan to become pregnant should consume at least 2-3 servings of a variety of seafood each week. There are only four fish moms-to-be, breastfeeding moms and young children need to avoid: shark, swordfish, king mackerel and tilefish. All other commercially-caught fish can, and should, be enjoyed.
