August Meal Plan: Savor Seafood with All-American Flavors

Happy August, Seafoodies!

It’s the last full month of summer, and we intend to enjoy every minute! Outdoor venues, pool parties, farmers’ markets—we want to soak it all in while we can! And we’ll be serving seafood to showcase late-season harvests; plus rustle up a traditional New England clam bake. It’s a great time of year to savor all-American flavors and celebrate some of the quintessential seafood dishes we know and love. This month’s Meal Plan gives you a culinary tour of America, exploring classic dishes and regional specialties.

For starters, we give a healthy Seafoodie makeover to the very American eggs Benedict—a dish that allegedly originated as a hangover cure for a Wall Street broker—with tender lump crabmeat, poached egg, and mashed avocado on a whole-grain English muffin. It makes a fabulous breakfast, brunch or anytime meal!

When lunchtime rolls around, indulge in a buttery Maine lobster roll, packed with fresh lobster meat. On the lighter side, seared scallops pair beautifully with ripe blueberries and greens in a tangy, maple-mustard vinaigrette. Or take your pick of two updated all-American dishes: a pasta salad tossed with shrimp and spiked with Old Bay, or a luxe lobster renovation to the popular Reuben sandwich! Should the midday munchies strike, our golden-brown tuna and mac-and-cheese bites should hit the spot.

For dinner, we’re loving these tuna burgers with avocado and a seriously addictive yogurt-chili sauce. The New England clam “bake” brings authentic coastal taste to anyone with a stovetop or grill—no sand required! Shrimp grilled with Alabama white sauce is smoky and tangy, with a subtle horseradish bite. And we’ve got just the thing for salmon lovers: a Southern-inspired, peach-Bourbon BBQ dish that deftly balances sweet and heat.

With mouthwatering meals like these, getting the recommended 2 to 3 servings of seafood a week is a taste treat. Summer will be over before we know it—let’s savor every bite!

Breakfast

Easy Avocado-Crab Benny

Swapping in crab lightens up this quintessential American dish that’s chock-full of satisfying protein and heart-healthy omega-3s.

Lunch

Classic Bay Shrimp Pasta Salad

An American picnic staple! This macaroni salad update combines tiny bay shrimp with orecchiette (“little ears”) pasta, crunchy diced veggies and Italian dressing.

Lobster Roll

Lobstah, pure and simple. One bite, and you’ll swear you’re in Down East Maine!

Seared Scallop Salad with Blueberries

If you can get fresh-picked blueberries, they add some juicy summer flavor to this awesome scallop dish!

Easy Lobster Reuben

The lobster Reuben has developed a cult following in Florida—here’s a slimmed-down version you can make at home!

Snack

Air Fryer Mac-and-Cheese Tuna Bites

Does it get more American than mac-and-cheese? These air-fried tuna bites will keep afternoon hunger at bay.

Dinner

Scallion and Sesame Tuna Burgers with an Ancho Chili Sauce

This is fusion food that really works! Asian-inspired tuna is topped with Southwest fixings in these supremely satisfying burgers.

New England Clam Bake

No beach, no problem! This recipe brings the clams (and lobster!) to your stovetop or grill, so there’s no bake involved.

Alabama White BBQ Shrimp

Not your typical BBQ! Juicy shrimp is seasoned with a smoky spice blend then basted with mayonnaise-based white sauce, giving you an authentic taste of Alabama.

Salmon with Bourbon-Peach BBQ Sauce

This Southern salmon dish is a must-try. You’ll want to eat up the spicy-sweet barbecue sauce with a spoon!
