Happy November, Seafoodies!
November always feels like the kickoff for the holiday season, and the Dish on Fish team is looking forward to creating some special get-togethers! From neighborhood tailgates to formal family meals, we think good food and laughter should be the centerpiece of celebrations this year. In October, we celebrated National Pescatarian Month, and we hope that momentum continues to inspire you to make seafood a part of your November, too!
Just like every month, the November Meal Plan helps you plan for seafood at least twice a week, just like the Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends. From impromptu snacks and quick lunches to sit-down dinners, we’ve got some unforgettable seafood recipes that are sure to become new family favorites.
And while you’re cooking up some great-tasting family meals, pat yourself on the back for serving some of the healthiest comfort food around. Seafood is a rich source of protein, heart-healthy omega-3s, important antioxidants and a host of other essential nutrients.
While we mostly focus on healthy dishes, we like to balance healthy with a few indulgent meals here and there, especially around the holidays. Like this luscious breakfast of Lowcountry shrimp with cheddar and bacon biscuits. Or, for a hearty brunch dish, try this flaky salmon hash! You can top it with feta cheese, capers or even a soft-boiled egg to make it yours.
At lunchtime, you can always lighten things up with an apple tuna salad or a colorful and crunchy shrimp salad with beets, pecans and goat cheese. On a chilly afternoon, warm up with a bowl of fragrant butternut squash and crab soup. And for snacks or light bites, we love tuna pickle boats or scrumptious scallop-stuffed mushrooms. They’re both gluten-free and snack-sational!
For dinner, try the creamy shrimp pumpkin pasta brimming with fall flavors—even the little Seafoodies will eat it up! And we’ve included two super easy whitefish recipes—grouper with spiced pecan crust and tilapia on a bed of caramelized fall veggies. Or, try these sheet-pan salmon avocado fajitas, and set up a build-your-own station with all the fixin’s to serve during game night.
Cheers, Seafoodies! Here’s to a nutritious, delicious and fun November… eating seafood and creating new memories!
