#Seafood123: Sustainable Seafood

As the world’s population grows, it is important to implement sustainable seafood practices, so everyone can continue to enjoy delicious and nutritious seafood at home and in restaurants. As recommended by the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, we should be eating a variety of seafood, both wild-caught and farm-raised, 2-3 times per week. For us to be able to meet those dietary recommendations, sustainable aquaculture programs are necessary to prevent a seafood shortage. Both farm-raised and wild-caught seafood are healthy, sustainable options that should be part of your diet at least 2-3 times a week. For additional information about sustainable seafood, be sure to check out FishWatch, which is run by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
