Hey, Seafoodies!
Summer’s here, and that means tons of warm-weather fun! But sometimes it can be hard to fit in the basics—like good nutrition—when we’re on the go. But it’s not hard when you have a handful of seafood snack recipes. By having ready-to-eat snacks that are packed with protein and other good-for-you nutrients on hand, we’re less likely to grab a processed or sugary snack (that are often high in calories, low in nutrition) on our way out the door. So if you’re looking for power-packed snacks this summer, think seafood!
And in the summer, many of us are snacking more frequently–or grazing all day–rather than sitting down for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If this is your eating style, make snack time an opportunity to fuel yourself!
Seafood’s a smart snack. It’s a rich source of protein and essential nutrients, helping you keep your summer energy up, feel full longer and build and maintain muscle (a bonus during swimsuit season!). Whether you’re looking for a light bite between breakfast and lunch or you need an energy boost in the afternoon, canned and pouched seafood are convenient and healthy options that taste delicious and will leave you satisfied. Smart snacking is an easy way to work toward the recommended 2 to 3 servings of seafood per week!
Interested in snacking smarter? We have a few tips to get you started:
- Keep protein-rich ingredients on hand. With some shelf-stable seafood in your pantry, you’re always just a few minutes away from a healthy, satisfying snack.
- Plan a snack schedule. If you regularly hit an afternoon slump, add a healthy seafood snack to your calendar to stave off hunger attacks and keep you from overeating at dinnertime.
- Snack-prep. Set yourself up for success by shopping for and preparing seafood snacks like crab salad with avocado so you’ll have something ready to grab before your energy drops.
