Surf’s up, Seafoodies!
Each year, it’s at the top of our summer to-do list: “Reach the beach!” Whether our destination is the Atlantic, Pacific or Gulf coast, we’re talking salty waves, sunny shores and boatloads of scrumptious coastal cuisine! If you visit the seaside this summer, you’re likely to indulge in some fresh-caught seafood. But no matter where you are, it’s possible to enjoy coastal flavors whenever the mood strikes! With fresh and flash-frozen seafood readily available at your market or fishmonger, all you need for that vacay (or staycay) frame of mind are some easy-breezy recipes. That’s where we can help! Our July Meal Plan is full of coastal-inspired seafood meals that will have you and your family clam-oring for more! Check out our top picks for every meal of the day.
Sun’s up—after you brew some coffee, why not try one of our fantastic early-eats options? The smoked salmon bowl with eggs, quinoa, sweet potatoes and spinach, topped with a turmeric yogurt drizzle, is seriously addictive. One bite of the sensational Everything-spiced lox omelet, and you’ll be hooked. And tender shrimp with cheesy chive grits is a hearty, Gulf Coast delicacy.
Come midday, we’re jonesing for casual fare. Tuck into some awesome fish tacos—with your choice of blackened salmon or spicy white fish—or for all-out indulgence, a buttery lobster roll. Craving something lighter? Look no further than our postcard-perfect grilled scallop and blueberry salad—it’s pure summer on a plate.
For dinner, we’re mixing things up, blending coastal seafood flavors with summer’s bounty of fresh fruit and veggies. If you’re seeking a laid-back, beachy vibe, dish up some cod with tomatoes and feta, or grilled salmon with a kicky strawberry salsa. For a more sophisticated seaside soirée, the seafood paella and pecan-crusted white fish are dressed to impress.
In addition to boasting great taste, this is coastal cuisine you can feel good about eating. Like all seafood, it provides more than enough protein, omega-3s and other nutrients to power you through the day. What’s more, these recipes have way less saturated fat and sodium than your typical beach eats—sorry, boardwalk fries!—which boosts your overall health (and helps keep you in tip-top shape for swimsuit season)
So, what are you waiting for? We think it’s high tide (ummm, high time) that you dive into some of these coastal recipes!
