Don’t you love all the different cultural traditions that transcend time and enrich the holidays? Cooking and sharing food is at the heart of just about every celebration in December. Of course, as a seafood blog, we are very intrigued by the Italian tradition of the Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. Some of you are just getting comfortable cooking seafood, but the “Dish on Fish Feast of the Seven Fishes” is low on stress, while high on impress. The menu consists of three seafood appetizers, followed by a seafood salad and, finally, three seafood main courses (3+1+3=7)! Our sample menu includes a few seafood recipes that you can make ahead, plus seafood that bakes in the oven while you are putting the finishes touches on the other recipes. We’ve also included some budget-friendly shelf stable seafood. If there is any meal that shows the versatility and variety of seafood, it’s the Feast of the Seven Fishes. The Feast of the Seven Fishes is an experience to savor with family and friends, so remember to have fun and mix things up as you see fit. Mangia mangia!
